The local summer collegiate baseball team, the Highline Bears, are heading into their sixth season. The Bears announced today that former Bears player and last season’s hitting coach Matt Stuart will return for the 2020 summer.
“Brining back Matt was a no brainer, he’s been a part of the Bears’ family for a long time. We were really impressed with his ability to coach third last season and are excited to have him back” General Manager Justin Moser said on Wednesday. “Matt was actually the first Highline Bears player to sign with us in 2015. Ben and Matt will do a great job leading our players and they both understand the importance of player development as well as putting on a show for the fans off the field.”
Head Coach Ben Harley is excited about his staff “I very excited about the coaching staff that we have brought in. With the years of experience that my assistants will be able to provide to our players I am excited to see the development that can take place in our two months together as a team.”
The Bears are heading into their sixth season in the Pacific International League. They have currently signed multiple players and are continuing to fill their roster in hopes to compete for a league championship.
“We’re really working on building a culture of player development and fun throughout the summer. From the level of competition our players get to compete against, to the environment they experience while playing at home in front of hundreds of fans it’s an unforgettable experience.” Explained General Manager Justin Moser.
The Highline Bears Opening Night is set for Saturday, May 30, 2020 and season tickets go on sale in November.
