On Wednesday, October 4th the Highline Bears are excited to announce the signing of new assistant coach Gavin Hite for the 2018 summer season.

Hite, a high school graduate from Bellarmine Prep signed with Western Oregon University as a Pitcher/Outfielder out of high school. After two successful years he then signed at New Mexico Highlands University to finish out his collegiate baseball career. While playing college ball he played in the summer collegiate West Coast League for the Kitsap BlueJackets and the Bellingham Bells. Gavin then went on to play for Seattle Studs for two seasons. Helping lead the Studs to a NBC National Baseball Congress World Series Championship in 2013 and being named PIL All-League for two consecutive years.

“Gavin has the same type of passion I have for this game, and at this level it’s very important. “He is totally on board with the positive impact the Highline Bears are trying to make on and off the field for the community.” Said Manager Josh Evans.

The Bears are working fast this off-season recruiting and working on building a bigger and better program. “Evans has been doing a great job connecting with college coaches and recruiting players earlier than we ever have before. Gavin is a great addition to our coaching staff, he understands what we’re trying build and can help us both on and off the field. He has a lot of great relationships that are going to help us build our program.” Explained General Manager Justin Moser.

After his time with the Studs Gavin transitioned to coaching at the high school and select baseball level for Rock Creek Select. “I am elated to have this opportunity with the Highline Bears. A chance to make a positive impact in the West Seattle community by being a part of the sport I love the most is a dream come true. I want to also make an impact on these student athletes and get them to be the best player they can possibly be. Baseball is fun, I want to share that with these great young men and the community.” Expressed Hite.
